AUDIOVERTIGO STUDIOS LAUNCH!
BIG NEWS! Dean Bibb announces the launch of his project studio, AUDIOVERTIGO STUDIOS! He has finished major upgrades to his personal studio and now opens it to the public. Take the link on the panel to the left and read all about it, or take the link provide in this paragraph. Heck, click here even.

Now, to update news, thanks in no small part to an inablility to access the host provider:
Dean, Dave Hudnall and Tim McCoy attempted a reunion of Under Authority. To make a long story short, it didn't last. Dave is currently playing bass with Big Planet Soul, a great revue band based in Charleston WV. Get out to a gig and support local music. Big Planet Soul are a great band, period.
Dean and Will Cochran closed the door on Reality Show for now. Josh Morgan is no longer availible as drummer. Nuff said.
Dean and his lovely wife Tiffany are expecting their third child in January. Congrats!
Dean has been moonlighting for Freedom Security in his spare time. His first job was the Fuel/ Breaking Benjamin/ Five Star Iris/ Magna Fi show at the Raleigh County Armory in May. Again, support music when it comes to town. Dean is awaiting word as to whether or not he is needed at The Armory for President Bush's visit on the 16th.
Congratulations to Dean's brother in law Wes Da Mess. He's the guy that builds Dean's computer systems. He has just purchased his own house and it's a beauty!
Pictures have been updated, including one of Dean with members of One Bad Pig, taken when Under Authority flew out for a festival appearance after the release of "Too Late". Be sure to check it out.
That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by and check back often!

OLD FRIENDS, NEW GROUND
Hey there! Here's some kinda big news: after talking with uber bassist/ vocalist Dave Hudnall a few times, Dean has been jamming with UNDER AUTHORITY once again! Dean took his Gibson Les Paul and his Line 6 Pod and Floor Board and drove back to Oak Hill (where it all began in the first place) and he, Dave and keysman Tim McCoy ran through the old UA material like it was nothing. New drummer Steve McQueen (ha ha ha) makes a good fit with the gang. His smaller Tama kit(s) cause a different take on some of the parts as played by Joe Elswick so Steve is free to be his own man. There was even the obligatory Chinese buffet trip afterwards! NO GIGS ARE SCHEDULED SO FAR, but check in often! They'll be posted as they come in!
Reality Show seems to have ground to a halt due to scheduling difficulties. As soon as Dean, Will and Josh get together and work up some new stuff you'll hear about it here. Will and Josh's praise band at their church (New Life Community Church in Oceana WV) will be opening for VA's Mount Zion at Sister's Coffeehouse in Princeton sometime this spring. New Life's p&w group has a good cd put together. Contact us here for more information on this fine project.
THE SITE HAS BEEN UPDATED! Check out the new and improved GEAR CLOSET and the CREDITS! page for yummy stuff!
That's all for now. Praise God for His guidance and for good health. IN GOD WE TRUST. ONE NATION UNDER GOD.

LOOKING AHEAD!
Greetings, and a belated Happy New Year to you all! Thanks again for stopping in and checking things out here at my website, it really does mean a lot to me. I'd especially like to give my thanks to my good friend and former bandmate Steve Forsythe and his family, who dug me up out of the internet dogpile wondering if I was still alive! Then he posted a link to this site on our old alma mater website and my old friend Stormey dropped in! Steve was the lead vocalist for Monkey's Uncle and has been implicated as the drummer for the criminally talented yet critically overlooked Coconut Brainwash. Steve will plead the fifth on the latter, I'm sure. It was too cool to hear from him and from Stormey! Man, what a pick- me- up!
Alot has been going on over the past couple of months. I've been concentrating on getting my home studio in order, including buying a headphone system and some condenser mics. Reality Show hasn't had much going on and as their bassist I've done a ton of woodshedding, trying to latch on to new grooves and go into some jazz. Sure, jazz is fun, but my ears call it atonal crap. We have some Reality Show stuff in the computer but not yet mastered or even mixed. Keep your ears open, they're on their way soon.
I've also parted ways with my trusty Parker NiteFly, the ol' Mistress. My wife heard me ranting on maniacally about how Gibson are about to overhaul the Les Paul market so she picked up a Studio model for me! Check out the Gear Closet for more info as I get pictures uploaded. So basically, the electric guitars shown on that page aren't in my posession any more!
I contemplated sending a video demo to Tourniquet, since they are auditioning guitarists right now. Then I started to listen to them exclusively in preparation and decided I'm not fast enough to play a lot of the stuff. The rhythm work is fine, but some of the lead work, especially by former guitar team Gary Lenaire and Erik Mendez, is still a bit out of reach.
Also, the godfather of Christian Rock music, Larry Norman, has undergone another round of heart surgeries. Please keep Larry in your prayers. He is an awesome guy, especially considering that he started the Christian Rock industry then got ran out of it by people he discovered. Go Larry, it's your birthday...
That's all for now, be sure to check back in as I revamp the place!
Later, dB

PROGRESS!
Not a lot to report at this time, just that Dean and that human riff-o-matic Will Cochran have met with a drummer and are looking to set up a session this week and jam. The drummer is VERY interested but his identity is being withheld until an official decision is made to join Dean and Will in their project. Suffice it to say that he is no stranger to the local music scene and is very comfortable performing live and working in a recording environment. Now THAT'S what we call progress!
In related news, according to Mary McCoy, wife of Tim McCoy, Under Authority have a guitarist and a drummer, but have not had the time to rehearse anything yet. UA might be on a bill that is being set for Beckley's annual Chili Night, which will also see Dean performing with Terry Gunther's new unit. Dean will also join Terry for a show to benefit the Beaver WV Volunteer Fire Department later in the month of October.
That's all for now. Dates for Terry's shows will be posted as soon as they are concrete, and be sure to check back here often for the news!

ACOUSTIC DUO!
Thank you for stopping in to the NEWS section. Much has happened recently, most of it in such short order that the website's news crews have had to play catch up!
First of all, Dean has made a great friend in Will Cochran, a guitarist who was in the wrong place at the wrong time talking guitar within Dean's earshot. A conversation sparked up and then Will mentioned that he plays in the praise band at his church in Oceana WV. The two became quick friends and when former UA lightman Paul Logan Garrett and his new bride Mandy could find no other entertainment for Tuesday night at their Tucker County Methodist camp Dean and Will stepped up! With very little practicing before hand they went up to Camp Kidd outside of St. George and performed praise and worship music for the youth. It wasn't all pretty, but God moved in the house. Afterward at campfire, Dean and Will teamed up to challenge the youth of the camp to exercise their camp's theme, "Xtreme Faith" by "thinking outside of the box" as Will puts it. Will and Dean stayed behind to pray with some of the youth who simply wanted a closer walk with God.
To make things more interesting, Tuesday the 24th was Dean and Tiffany's fouth wedding anniversary! Congratulations to them! They spent their anniversary with the Tucker County Methodist Church camp youth and had a blast.
You can go here to see photos of Dean and Will in action at Camp Kidd. They enjoyed themselves so much that they will gladly do another gig!
RUMOR CONTROL:
DEAN IS NOT PERFORMING SECULAR MUSIC.
In a recent phone call to an old acquaintance, Dean mentioned working together on a project. The acquaintance told Dean that he would as long as he could still do his own band, because he's a minister. He then said, "You are doing secular stuff, right Dean?"...

FREE AGENCY
Hello once again everybody! Took the opportunity to do some web surfing, because real surfing doesn't exist here in West Virginia! I have my favorite sites to visit, which would bore most people to tears. You see, I'm not a huge sports fan, or a TV junkie, and I don't catch movies very often, although a saw both X-Men United and The Matrix: Reloaded over the weekend. So basically I hit sites that deal with (what else?) Music! I participate actively in the fan forum at www.kingsxonline.com, I always check in at www.parkerguitars.com, and www.larrynorman.com always has thoughtful insights garnered from a life of dedication to a cause. Even with Larry's current state of health, his P.M.A is amazing! Whatta guy!
My thoughts are with my best friend Greg Barney and his wife Mandy. They just received their first born son Hunter Timothy this past week. A healthy boy for Uncle Buddy Jack to spoil hahaha! Now, there's officially three little Freebirds stomping around, the 'Violent New Breed' of ankle- tackling crumbsnatchers determined to strip their parents of all sanity. What joy! Yep...
I think about how time has flown by. I'm married, I have two children, and to beat around the bush a bit, let's just say I'm not twenty anymore! Factor in that for the first time in a decade I'm not in a band, and that I have a ton of songs on computer and still in my head, and I learned that I have a fire burning in me to record, perform and write more music! I'm definitely going to get this stuff onto a CD with the help from some friends and then after that well let's just see what happens! I'm a free agent and I think that's the way I'll remain for awhile.
Later days! Check back in with me! To quote the great Greg Lilly of Navigator... PEEEEACE!

EULOGY
Hi there. I'm writing this on a Monday afternoon, watching my oldest son run around the house acting out scenes from 'Bob The Builder' and enjoying a cold Coca- Cola. Lots of things on my mind, so I'll just begin at the very top of the list for you.
Last Saturday evening the band got together to audition yet another drummer, and afterwards I announced my plans to depart from Under Authority. I had actually made the decision the week before last and couldn't get any calls returned to me, so the actual announcement was easy to make since I had mentally left the band days earlier. But emotions are real, and they did flow. You don't turn the page on a part of your life like the last few years have been with us and act like nothing happened. In fact, quite a bit has happened with UA that will forever echo both on earth and in Heaven.
It became apparent to me later that evening why God kept me from communicating with Tim or Dave that prior week. Had I quit that week, there would not have been that fine gathering at Spirit And Truth Saturday night to meet the new drummer. Man, he's awesome! He learned the CD exactly and added nuances to it as well. Nothing over the top, just what the songs need. Great guy too. He was offered the position on the spot and jumped at the chance, pending notification of his next- of- kin (no joke! You'll see what I mean at a later date!) So, to make a long story short, I still had to hook up with the guys on Saturday just to talk with them and get R. the drummer in place, I guess.
Looking back over the years, I have spent ten of the past twelve of them doing this kind of work, either with Under Authority or it's forerunner Icthus. In between, I was part of other good bands, including Tribe, which to this day was the most fun I ever had simply playing the music with my friends. But I could never sell out the things that Under Authority accomplished in our desire to serve Our God. Once the 'classic 1996' line up was set, we played what was, to us at the time, a monster gig as feature entertainment at Oak Hill High School's talent show. Screaming kids, our first big exposure. Awesome. The very next night, we drove over Spruce Mountain from Beckley down to Artie and left our PA in the truck, playing unplugged in one of the smallest churches we've ever played in. There, we felt a movement of The Spirit unlike any other we have felt. When we got back home a message was on the machine from the local radio station wanting us to open for Benson recording artists East To West. So began the mad dash to record our first release, "Black And White".
Then came the time when Dave wasn't with us, and we did tons of local shows, with Tim, Charlie and I splitting lead vocals. When Dave returned, a fresh annointing fell on us and God expanded our borders. We began to travel from state to state, into Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina at first. As Dave took over bass guitar duties, Mike Dutton left and Max Whiting stepped in, just in time to go to Baltimore for a weekend. With Max we worked with PAR/ Spirit FM in Roanoke and did the 'See You At The Pole Day' event at the civic center with Forefront artist Rebecca St. James. Over five thousand people out there and we gave a good presentation of our ministry that day. Later, in 2002, Dave and Tim were speaking to her guitarist at their Beckley gig on the Transform tour and he recalled watching us before he did praise and worship at the gig. This was the same time when we began reaching out to Raleigh North Carolina and establishing a foothold, meeting our beloved friends there and being Spiritually fed at New Touch Ministries.
Then Shawn Gunther took over on drums. More local gigging and one trip to Raleigh later, both he and Charlie leave the band. At the same time, we are booked solid through February 2000 and my work would have prevented me from participation. So I quit my job as Joe Elswick stepped in on drums. Under Authority were stripped to fighting weight and extensive gigging ensued, as well as the recording of our next project, "Too Late". Our travels took us to Baltimore MD, Raleigh NC, Dayton OH, Charleston, Elkins, Buchannon, Parsons and Weston WV, Nashville, Mount Vernon, Cookeville and Shelbyville TN, Roanoke VA, Allentown and the Pocono Mountains PA, Glassboro NJ and Amarillo TX. Put those points on a map and compare the reach we have had. Not bad at all for a regional band. Which each new place came new friendships and experiences, especially where Waffle Houses were located. These were some of the best times of my life, never to be repeated in their glory.
But all good things eventually come to an end, and the time has come for me to step away from this mission. I know in my heart that my phase of this is complete. Someone else will come aboard and fill the air with his or her unique sound and Under Authority will go onward. But my heart and my hand go out to Dave and Tim and my thoughts and prayer are with them, as I am sure theirs go with me.
To those of you who I met through Under Authority: thanks for allowing me to meet you, I'm a better person for it! I hope the music and message continue to move in your life. Look to Jesus for all your needs. Don't punch me for leaving the band LOL, it's just that time. I'm getting my feet under me at a new home church and although I'm planning on getting together with some people to record all of these songs I've got piled up here, I'm willing to just wait and see what road God points me towards next. Hmm... is Rebecca hiring? Touniquet maybe? Brian May needs a roadie????
In other news, long time Under Authority lightman extrordinaire and often soundman Paul Logan Garrett married his longtime flame Amanda Sue Plum in a small ceremony outside of St. George WV. I was honored to be Logan's best man and he asked me to perform Tourniquet's "When The Love Is Right (To Lizett)", which I did. Thanks Logan and Mandy for the priviledge!

KEEPING THE BEAT
Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Under Authority are currently auditioning drummers. Joseph Elswick left Under Authority to follow his own muse. To check in with Joe and see what he's up to, follow this link to my 'Links' page and take the link to his site. It's all cool, trust me! He has a praise and worship band going, and he's getting married soon, but the bottom line is that UA simply didn't fit his lifestyle anymore. Everybody still keeps in touch and when he settles down he and Dean are planning on making Joe's CD that he's had on his mind for well over a year. Remember kids: nothing lasts forever. Pray for Joe, his wife to be (a swell girl by the name of Bethany, I might add!) and his ministry. Pray for Under Authority, as a great deal of things are now suspended until the right drummer steps in.
Dean spoke to a potential drummer tonight on the phone. The guy posted an ad at Guitars Plus on Robert C. Byrd Drive in Beckley so Dean called him. Lots of similar influences, such as Kings X and Dream Theater. Like Elswick before him, a big drumkit, Carter Beauford/ Neil Peart fan. But there have been two others who have auditioned already, so no one's hopes are up yet. Tim has a line on another drummer as well.
Dean's Audiovertigo studio is going a lot more smoothly now that he has added new multitrack equipment and microphones. More gear to come in the future. He would have a headphone distribution system already but a real gem of an amp tackled him at a pawn shop and demanded purchase, along with a guitar that Dean hopes to use as parts for a baritone, or 'drop-6' instrument.
Lot's of new tunes coming out. Dean has laid down guitars and vocals against a click track for the following: A Life Less Ordinary, Midnight Drive, Walk Away, Send Up A Prayer, Grace, and These Magic Years. These songs, along with other new ones in the current set list, may very well constitute the core of the next UA project.
That's all for now. Support our troops. Pray for our government leaders and those of other countries, even those who oppose.

RUMOR CONTROL
Hey there everybody, and thank you for checking in here! Happy New Years, albeit belated, to you and yours!
To recap the New Year's Eve gig in Weston WV: AWESOME just about sums it up! A lot of musical styles were represented, from New Identity to Expressions Of Soul, from Navigator to Under Authority, and every band seemed to rise just a little bit higher and give it everything we had. I truly feel that this was one of the most technically perfect performances we have had as a band, even if my wireless transmitter kept hopping off my guitar strap! Oh well...
Now, on to rumor control, which appears to be really necessary at this time.
Rumor: UNDER AUTHORITY ARE SPLITTING UP.
Not even close. Times are changing, yes, but Under Authority will continue to move forward. The plan is to have professional grade videos for 'Trust In God' and 'The Crucifixion' and hopefully a new cd release in time to do heavy touring by summer. Scoffers beware.
Rumor: No one in the band has a desire to continue.
Again, completely false. In the process of re-evaluating the current situations within UA, Tim McCoy and Dean Bibb have come to realize what this ministry means to them, and the potential costs of walking away from what they deem to be unfinished business. A word from God through one of our kind friends in Weston WV last Sunday night confirms this as well! Although Dean hasn't spoken to Dave Hudnall, he's sure that Dave is on the same wavelength. The plan is to push like the band did back in 1996 through 1998, and the boys seem to have a hunger deep within them to work. This hunger is possibly the thing that has been missing in UA over the past few months. Stay away from us unless you want to catch this workaholic fever. It's quite contageous!
Rumor: The songwriting well has run dry.
Hah! Pack up your junk and take that game elsewhere! Dean and Joe Elswick have been spitting tunes out like teeth after a barroom brawl, dawg! In fact, the majority of new material for any upcoming release this year will be coming from them. Dave even wrote an incredible idea, bless his soul! Tim's muse seems eerily quiet at this time but the musical annointing is still being poured out on the band. Joe's song 'Vanished' has become a regular in the set lists and Dean has more songs rattling around in his head than he can keep track of. Go to the 'Audio' page on this site and check out the new song on his mp3.com page and see what I'm talking about!
Okay, so there you have it! Under Authority are feeling lean, mean, and ready for usage, new music abounds, and videos are right around the corner. If you've been wishing for 'A Life Less Ordinary, hang on kiddies! Two-thousand three will be one wild ride with Under Authority!

MESA'S, MARSHALLS AND LINE 6
***Hey! On a real quick note, tonight's gig with Navigator at the Bradley/ Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department Complex has been cancelled. Sorry!***
A quandry: I'm in the market for an amp. I've been using the Line 6 POD and the accompanying Floor Board for over a year and a half now without an amp. Now, sometimes I've ran the POD into an amp when the venue required it, but most of the time when Under Authority plays out it's on our PA, with our EQ and our FX so on and so forth, ad nauseum. When this is the case, the POD is all I need. I got it at C.A. House Music in St. Clairsville, OH when I traded my Crate Blue Voodoo 120 half- stack in on it. Had the Blue Voodoo been in excellent condition at the time I probably could have gotten a Line 6 Flextone II-XL out of it. But the Voodoo bore the scars of 3 years of intense road and studio use externally. I kept the internal maintenance up since I was running a Scholtz Power Soak on it, but the outside was roughed, scuffed and generally needed a buff!
So, I got the new (at the time) POD 2.0 (mine was actually a 2.2). I chose Line 6 for their incredible model of the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier amp, which is my favorite amp line. In fact, I got the Blue Voodoo because I couldn't afford the Rectifier! The rest was history and I now had a gone from a great tone to an exemplary one. My POD is beaten up too now, after nearly two years of usage, and I've gotten really good at fixing the buttons on the Floor Board when they wiggle loose too!
Over the past year, I've realized a few things about some of the different amps, courtesy of the tones that some of my favorite players have gotten from using different gear. I've said many times over the years that I've never played a Marshall straight out of the gate that's been my trick. Well, that remains true today. But, when you take a Marshall and put the good ol'  Boss DS-1 Distortion pedal into the front of it, that really does it for me! Take Joe Satriani, Neal Schon, and Steve Vai and look at their gear over the years. The amps have changed somewhat, but for most of it they've all been Marshalls, with the DS-1 going into it! MAN! Larry Cole was right when he called that orange beaut of a stomp box the industry standard! Now, I have my own, and it never occurred to me to set the drive on 1, the volume on 10 and get a voltage boost on my own amp! I could have taken that Voodoo or my old Fender Bassman head and changed the world!
Ty Tabor used the 30th Anniversary Marshall head on Kings X's Ear Candy CD and got what I feel is one of his best tones. He used it as a preamp, though, and not to run a cab in and of itself. He told Guitar Player magazine that he got your "...basic '70's British rock sound...", but his hands and ears took the Marshall sound to a much higher plateau!
I've since experimented with setting up a good Marshall/ Boss combination using my POD, to varying degrees of success, but having the extra pedal to kick around became a drag. At the same time, my friend Brian Williams attempted to sell me his JCM 2000 DSL 50 stack. Had I had the dough I would have done the deal. I did have enough time with it to do the Boss pedal on the real deal, and it delivered the goods!
The problem I have with the Marshall sound seems to be the amount of voltage hitting the first gain stage. There just isn't enough going to the first tube in my generalization. I'm sure if I compared the specs on that amp with a Rectifier then that wouldn't be the real problem, but the Recto has an incredible 'snap' in the front end. The band that I think gets the overall best Recto tone, believe it or not, is Matchbox 20! Just listen to their guitar tones! Marvelous beauty! Now, when you put the Boss pedal into the Marshall, you get a higher amount of voltage hitting the first stage, not to mention that great Boss tone, which in the end is the reason the pedal gets used.
Another major player in this amp game right now is of course the Line 6 Vetta. If you  haven't heard one of these for yourself yet, find a dealer and go play one! It's a complex machine to operate, but it allows you to run two amp models at once, so if you want to cop Stevie Ray Vaughan and run a Marshall and a Fender together you can, or take a Rectifier and a Marshall, or a Vox AC-30 and a Matchless Chieftan together! It sure sounded good to me, but for once in my life I found myself afraid to touch any knobs and buttons on it! The Line 6 stuff is really good stuff. I just want an amp onstage with me. Or at the house for that matter. So, the search is on...
I hope I haven't rambled around too much for some of you. Again, thanks for checking in with me and please keep in touch with me! I'll try to return any email I receive so feel free to email me!     dB

THE GREAT SLOW DOWN

Under Authority hasn't had a bad year as far as unknown bands of our type go. Our travels this year took us to New Jersey, where we had never been to before. Not bad! I've even been featured on Parker Guitars' website, kinda sorta in a way... so now you know you have a reason to check out the link on this site to Parker Guitars! We've also learned new material and I personally have a ton in my head waiting to become demos as soon as time allows me. Joe has some as well, and even Dave has written an idea, bless his soul! But now's the time of the year when everything kinda slows down for us. Not that it has to, it's just that it's always been this way. It just happens. You can tell by one look at the schedule page here (yet another shameless site promotion!) that there isn't much happening between now and new years. Now that could change mind you... but members of the band have already made clear their intentions for the rest of the year, so I guess this year will go just like most of the rest of them... slow.
What's worse is that there doesn't seem to be much communication between us. At least not much reaching me here. Unanswered phone calls mostly. E-mail get returned for the most part but very few seem to come in. Was it my garlic sandwich? Doubtful. Something always tries to tear away at us from the inside out. Life is too short not to communicate. But again, this may be another symptom of 'The Great Slow Down'. Anyway, go check out the SCHEDULE page here and make it out to one of the shows. You'll enjoy it and we'll love to meet you. Keep us in prayer though, because these times of 'The Great Slow Down' are notoriously times of flux for Under Authority. See you out there!

A TIME OF REFLECTION
As America nears the one year anniversary of the blackest moment in our history I find myself taking a moment to reflect on our great nation. The massive scope of the tragedies that occured on our soil on the morning of September 11th, 2001 seem to take on the subtle hues of moments placed in the hands of God when I look back upon them now. I must ask the dark question "Is America still a nation 'under God'?"
The courts ban these words from the Pledge Of Allegiance and Christians raise an uproar. Has any thought been given to the fact that these very words were only added to the hallowed pledge in 1954 as a way to weed out the 'Pinkish' threat posed to McCarthy- era Democracy? Obviously not much.
American doctors perform a staggering amount of controlled butchery of the unborn and defenseless in the name of 'convenience'. This happens within the confines of government sanctioned and taxdollar supported clinics with very little effort given to showing any alternatives to the horrific procedure(s). With the blessing of The Capitol and The White House two entire generations have arguably been wiped out and then these same government buildings hold the lawmakers busy trying to figure out how to fix social security.
In South Carolina a battle flag used by the 'Rebel' armies flies over the statehouse and other government offices, an open offence to an entire demographic. Again, an uproar is made, but no thought given to the fact that slavery was used as a political weapon on both sides of the Mason- Dixon line. Again in this instance, the truths are rendered rhetorical instruments.
Can a case honestly be made calling America a nation 'under God' anymore? Can America really consider itself exempt from God's judgements, even if they may include catastrophic attacks upon our sovereignty? Just consider the Children Of Israel: how many times did God use outside kings and rulers to 'bump' Israel back towards where they were destined? How many times did they actually stay there? If so for God's Chosen People, then certainly for America as well.

SADDLE UP!
Under Authority have just returned home from a weekend in Glassboro, NJ. This was the band's first appearance in the Garden State. The performance, originally slated to be held at the Soul Food Cafe located at Uhl's Christian Bookstore, was moved to a nearby church to accomodate more people. UA were greeted by a very enthusiastic crowd, and performed a very ministry- heavy set, including an altar call spun off of HERE I AM, which led into the invitational COME AS YOU ARE and ended with UA's high- octane version of OPEN THE EYES OF MY HEART. The band selected a young man from the crowd and assigned him the duties of on-stage photographer for the evening! For his trouble, the youth was given a complimentary copy of UA's cd "Too Late".
This Saturday UA will be performing in Beckley WV, then Sunday in Dunbar WV. Next weekend they are returning to Raleigh NC and the legendary Jehovah Java Coffeehouse (the guys are STOKED for this one!) Check out the new page entitled Schedule!!!! and come out and give them some love! See you on the road!

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Under Authority have spent the past seven years traversing the country, from Allentown PA to Murfreesboro TN,  from Raleigh NC to Amarillo TX, using rock and roll as the delivery method for a very potent Christian lyrical message. They have released two self- promoted efforts: 1996's BLACK AND WHITE and 2001's TOO LATE. Now, they have undertaken a very important and too often overlooked business maneuver.
In November of 2001 Guitarist Dean Bibb discovered a now defunct Canadian punk rock band using the name Under Authority. With a little investigation another Under Authority was discovered in Texas (also a Christian band). After consulting with band friend, advisor and producer Dick McVey of Dick McVey Enterprises it was decided that Under Authority must work to protect the valuable name they have managed to eke out.
Now the work has paid off: they have made use of their official business title "Under Authority Ltd." and have secured the Federal Servicemark "Under Authority". In laymans terms, Under Authority Ministries officially owns the name UNDER AUTHORITY for business purposes, promotion, public performance and any and all franchising.
So, after seven years, Under Authority are, now more than ever, UNDER AUTHORITY.

MYSTERIOUS WAYS
Dean and his two sons Alex and Jaxon were involved in a motor vehicle accident on US Rt. 19 in Fayette County WV on Saturday March 23rd 2002. No one was seriously injured and the investigation is continuing. Dean asks for your prayers for everyone involved and for justice to prevail. Thank you.
The aforementioned accident caused Under Authority to miss an engagement at Alderson- Broaddus College in Philippi WV on Sunday the 24. Dean wishes to apologize on behalf of Under Authority for the short notice cancellation but trusts that everyone understands the circumstances.
On the brighter and wilder side, Dean's dastardly vocabulary was celebrated, from a certain point of view, by the Percussion Ensemble of Oak Hill High School. The ensemble gave their 2002 concert at the OHHS Auditorium this past week to a packed house. The concert beared the moniker "Ka'Tharp", whice according to Under Authority legend was a word created to describe the sound of a four year old falling off of a tumbling stool at Jehovah Java Coffeehouse in Raleigh NC. The word, of course, tumbled from Dean's lips, launching a sleepless night of debate between lightman Aaron Michael Fox, Soundman Jon Craft and vocalist Dave Hudnall about how Dean could come up with such a word from scratch...So Dean says thanks to the ensemble and feels honored, kinda...
See you on the road soon. Thanks.

Long Time, No See!
OK, so it' more than time for an update. So what has kept Dean and his family so busy that this website has not been updated? Many things. Looking back into February we find Dean, his wife Tiffany and friends dropping everything on short notice and leaving for our nation's capital for a weekend. Did they lobby Congress? Nope. They only went to meet visiting royalty: KINGS X were at Jaxx's in Springfield VA and Dean had to be there! Dean and family met Ty Tabor, Doug Pinnick and Jerry Gaskill of KINGS X and Ty's lady Janet snapped a photo of Dean, Tiffany and their friend Jay Skaggs with the hallowed KINGS X guitarist. Expect this photo on this site soon.
Next was a quickly thrown together trip to Murfreesboro TN on the first weekend in March with UA soundman Jonathan Craft, who was invited to tour Middle Tensessee State University. Once again the dynamic duo of Dean and Tiffany loaded up the Ford Windstar and chased the sky with Jonathan. The trio visited Franklin TN, looking for the now closed Jammin' Java in town. What they found was Peter Fuller, singer for the NEWSBOYS. Peter and his wife Summer spoke to Dean, Tiff and Jon at length and signed a note mentioning PSALM 40, the great patience chapter, and left with a copy of UA's cd "Too Late" in hand (GOD had two copies returned to UA's mailbox in Nashville just for the occasion!) Then, on Sunday morning the three of them worshipped at The People's Church in Franklin TN. Three inspiring events in one month!
Dean also just completed production on the new cd from WV singer/ songwriter/ poet/ photojournalist T. PAIGE DALPORTO, a cd entitled "Follow The Song". Dean is also still working with UA drummer Joe Elswick's project LEVI MATTHEW.
And did I mention that UA has been very busy, too?

TUESDAY JANUARY 15th 2002:

Dean Bibb announces the launch of his new mp3 site on mp3.com. The site is updated as soon as new material becomes availible. Will these songs blossom into the next Under Authority songs? Will they sound the way you expect Dean to sound? Only investigation will answer these questions. Go to the newly dubbed AUDIO page and follow the new link! Check out Dean's new song, "BUT THEN AGAIN" and register your opinion of it at his site at mp3.com today!

Thursday 1/03/02:
2002's TOUR THEME ANNOUNCED
Hope everyone had a great holiday season!
UA performed Wednesday 1/02 at Spirit And Truth Ministries in Oak Hill WV in lieu of a regular evening service. The evening's theme was a general wake up call for Believers to be real, prompting the band to adopt the phrase "CHALLENGE THE BELIEVER" as this year's tour theme. ("There's a song there, I tell ya." -Dean). The crowd did say that the band wasn't half as loud as their typical Sunday Morning services!
Dean's knee is substantially better. Thanks to all who showed concern.
Drummer Joe Elswick told Dean at the show that while chatting online he checked Dean's site out. The FAQ's killed him and he sent the person he was chatting with to them. Thanks Joe for actions above and beyond the call of duty! Check out the FAQ's today!
The UA FAMILY is launched. See the band's official site for more information.
Check out Under Authority on their 2002 CHALLENGE THE BELIEVER tour and catch the fire!

Finally, Dean celebrated his 29th birthday Sunday at his home with his wife and children. Monday the 3rd was his actual birthday but Sunday was the only time the family could be together.

SOMETIME RECENTLY:
Between performances with Under Authority, Dean decided to (GASP!) get a hair cut! Dean has done this before: he has worn long hair, short hair and even no hair! But this haircut was special because he donated his hair to a charity that will use it to make wigs for children who undergo chemotherapy during cancer treatment. Dean says "My wife loves the haircut and I'm glad to have done something nice with it." Besides, it grows so fast that it wont belong before he can donate more!
